Agile Delivery Lead
Specialty insurance moves at the speed of the risks we underwrite—and the courage we ask of customers, partners, and colleagues. This role turns that ambition into shipped outcomes: clearer priorities, faster learning, and delivery teams that finish what matters. You will be the person who makes complex change predictable without draining the judgment that makes specialty work distinctive.
Performance Objectives
- Establish a single, trusted delivery system so product, underwriting, operations, and technology commit to the same outcomes each quarter.
- Cut cycle time on priority initiatives by removing handoffs, clarifying decision rights, and keeping work in small, releasable slices.
- Raise forecast reliability so leadership can see, within two weeks, what will land, what is blocked, and what should stop.
- Coach squads and their leaders until planning, daily flow, and retrospectives produce measurable improvement—not ceremony.
- Surface delivery risk early on regulatory, data, and customer-facing work, and drive a decision before it becomes a miss.
- Align portfolio investment to business value so capacity follows the few bets that grow the book and protect the customer.
- Leave a playbook and metrics others can run, so delivery quality holds when you are not in the room.
Environment & Resources
You will partner with product owners, engineering managers, and business sponsors across a multi-office specialty insurer in a growth phase. Expect modern collaboration and work-management tools, access to delivery and flow data, and air cover to challenge local habits that slow release. You report to the technology or transformation leadership accountable for how change reaches the business, with influence—not a large standing staff—as your primary lever.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven record leading multi-team agile delivery in a regulated or complex service business, with outcomes you can quantify.
- Ability to set and run portfolio rituals that executives actually use for trade-offs.
- Coaching depth across Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid flow—chosen for the work, not the label.
- Comfort translating underwriting, claims, or distribution needs into sequenced delivery without owning the product decisions.
- Clear written and spoken communication that holds a room of specialists and still leaves a decision.
- Judgment to protect compliance and customer trust while refusing process that does not change results.
Role Selling Points
- Work where courage is a stated standard: challenge the brief, then deliver it.
- Shape how a growing specialty portfolio ships change, not maintain a mature factory.
- Sit close to real risk products—professional, cyber, media, and management liability—not generic back-office IT.
- Influence across a global group while owning outcomes in the U.S. business.
- Build the operating rhythm others will copy.
